A 26-year-old man stationed at Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu died while scuba diving off Molokai on Saturday.
Duane Harold Parsley II was part of a scuba diving tour but did not return to his boat as scheduled at 9 a.m., according to police. Parsley was later found unresponsive in an area outside of Kawela I known as "blue sand hole" in about 50 feet of water. At 10:27 a.m., Molokai patrol officers and medics were sent to meet the incoming boat, which reported having an unresponsive man aboard, at Kaunakakai Harbor.
All life-saving measures were unsuccessful and Parsley died, police said.
His cause of death is pending autopsy.
