Hawaii National Guardsmen and personnel from the Maui Fire Department and county Department of Parks and Recreation construct 23 temporary emergency shelters for displaced families and people impacted by COVID-19 on Friday at Waiale Park in Wailuku. Each 64-square-foot pallet shelter features two beds and an air conditioner.

Hawaii National Guard Sgt. Alvin Penaflorida applies weather stripping Friday to a pallet shelter with help from Spc. Filemon Lagon.
