Maui Memorial Medical Center personnel are showered with 144,000 plumeria flowers dropped from a Blue Hawaiian Helicopters chopper Tuesday afternoon. “It was amazing,” hospital spokesperson Tracy Dallarda said of the flower drop in front of the Wailuku facility. “It was a beautiful honor to all the caregivers and all the staffers who support them.” Blue Hawaiian President Quentin Koch said the flowers, roughly one for each of Maui’s 144,432 residents, were picked by employees and dropped “to give thanks to all our heath care heroes, EMS and frontline first responders. We were looking for a way to thank the hospital in a way only ‘Blue’ can.” Piloting the helicopter is Eric Hamp and releasing the flowers is Hugh Yi.
