8 days straight of no COVID-19 for Maui; sole case today on Big Isle

Maui County has eight consecutive days — from May 10 through today — of no new COVID-19 cases, according to a state health report.

The last time Maui County had seen a new case was May 2.

State health officials reported a sole new case today — on the Big Island, which now has 77 cases.

Honolulu County stayed at 415, Maui County remained at 117 and Kauai County stayed at 21.

There have been 10 residents diagnosed outside of the state.

With the new case today, the state ticks up to 640 total, with 573 of those recovering and being released from isolation.

There have been 82 hospitalizations and 17 COVID-19-related fatalities.

State Department of Health tracking began Feb. 28.
