Black Lives Matter protests are scheduled for today at 10 a.m. at the Hana and Haleakala highway intersection and at 11 a.m. on Kaahumanu Avenue between the Queen Ka'ahumanu Center and UH-Maui College, according to Maui Peace Action.
The Haleakala-Hana Highway demonstration, which will last until 1 p.m., is called "Black Lives Matter Positive Protest, Togetherness Rally." It will involve sign waving with drumming.
The Kaahumanu Avenue rally is titled "Black Lives Matter Protest." It is a peaceful protest of abuses of power by law enforcement. Organizers suggest bringing signs, masks, hand sanitizer, water, a charged phone and sunscreen.
