Uotelose Malafu Makoni, a Maui High graduate, received a $10,000 Ellison Onizuka Memorial Scholarship.
Makoni, who graduated with a 3.99 grade point average, will be attending University of Michigan-Dearborn and studying aerospace engineering in the fall. She also received the University of Michigan-Dearborn Blue Scholarship, the University of Michigan-Dearborn Tuition Differential Scholarship and the Diamond Resort Scholarship.
Makoni grew up in Kihei and attended Kamalii and Kihei elementary, Lokelani Intermediate and Maui High. Growing up, she attended Kihei Youth Center, played basketball, volleyball and rugby.
Her parents are Ana Malafu-Eliesa and Gerod Makoni.
