Youth center and skate park open

Pa’ia Youth & Cultural Center and StoneWave Skate Park are both open to new and returning members. To participate at the PYCC, a current membership form and health waiver must be completed. To download membership forms and for more information about ongoing classes and programs, visit pyccmaui.org.

All youth and parents are required to bring a mask when visiting the PYCC. The PYCC and StoneWave Skate Park are open from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday throughout the summer break.

District governor to speak at meeting

The Rotary Club of Kihei Wailea will hear from Naomi Masuno, Rotary Hawaii District 5000 governor, during its noon meeting Wednesday via Zoom. The Zoom room will open at 11.30 a.m. for fellowship.

Makawao History Museum reopens

The Makawao History Museum at 3643 Baldwin Ave. in Makawao has reopened with two new exhibits: “The Olinda Prison: From Prison to Honor” and “Honoring 3 Upcountry Women.” The museum will also be offering a 20 percent markdown on books and T-shirts to celebrate its reopening.

Hours will be limited and strict regulations put in place to ensure the health and safety of volunteer docents and visitors. Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays.

The museum mandates that only two visitors enter the museum at a time, with exceptions only being made for families. All those who enter the museum must wear a face mask.

Residents receive free surf lessons

As part of its ongoing Malama Maui community give back program, Hawaiian Paddle Sports completed 100 free surf lessons on Maui for local residents the week of June 21.

A participant of Maui County’s Kama’aina First program, Hawaiian Paddle Sports is offering all of its tours and lessons to Hawaii residents at a kama’aina discount of 20 percent off. Both tours and lessons include complimentary digital photography. Kama’aina can book online with rate code KAM20 year-round. A valid Hawaii ID is required.
