WAILUKU -- Police arrested a 59-year-old man who allegedly entered a mental health residence in Wailuku without permission and punched a resident Tuesday night.
Ray Aguilera was charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree unauthorized entry into a dwelling and third-degree assault.
He was seen in an enclosed lanai area of the residence on Ua Place for people with mental health diagnoses at 8:40 p.m. and was asked to leave by a residential assistant, according to a declaration filed in court to support the charges. Aguilera became hostile and swore at the assistant before a resident heard the commotion and also asked Aguilera to leave, according to the declaration.
Aguilera began swearing at the resident and punched him in the face, according to police.
Aguilera left the residence and was sitting in his vehicle outside when police arrived and arrested him.
Judge Kirstin Hamman kept bail at $5,000 for Aguilera, who made an initial appearance Wednesday in Wailuku District Court. He was ordered to stay away from the residence and victim.
