Players find their happy place at soccer practice
Players on Kihei’s American Youth Soccer Organization U-10 boys team run a sprint during their first practice of the year Tuesday afternoon at Kalama Park. Head coach Dave Hammerstein said the biggest challenge was keeping the kids socially distanced. Team mom Tomi Hammerstein said other guidelines include keeping parents off the field, no shared snacks, washing hands with sanitizer and mask-wearing off the field. “One boy walked up to the table and said, ‘I haven’t been out of the house in months. I’m so happy to be here,’ ” Tomi Hammerstein said.
