Maui lawmakers will make up nearly half of the newly formed, nine-member Pandemic and Disaster Preparedness Committee in the state House of Representatives.
Reps. Angus McKelvey, Tina Wildberger, Justin Woodson and Kyle Yamashita will sit on the committee created in the wake of COVID-19. Oahu Reps. Linda Ichiyama and Stacelynn K.M. Eli will be the committee's chair and vice-chair, respectively.
The House released the full committee assignments Friday, after announcing its leadership earlier this month.
McKelvey, who represents North Kihei and West Maui, will chair the newly formed Government Reform Committee, with South Maui's Wildberger as vice-chair. Woodson of Central Maui and Yamashita of Upcountry will serve as members.
Woodson will chair the Education Committee, whose members include Rep. Lynn DeCoite, who represents Molokai, Lanai, East Maui and Kahoolawe, and Rep. Troy Hashimoto, who serves Central Maui.
DeCoite was named vice-chair of the Higher Education and Technology Committee, with Hashimoto and Woodson as members.
Hashimoto will be the vice-chair of the Housing Committee; DeCoite is also a member.
Wildberger and Yamashita will also sit on the Finance Committee, while McKelvey will sit on the Judiciary and Hawaiian Affairs Committee and DeCoite and Hashimoto will sit on the Transportation Committee.
House Speaker Scott Saiki said that the upcoming session will convene Jan. 20.
