Initial results favor county charter amendments except Managing Director
Six of the seven Maui County Charter Amendments are on track to being voted in – with the exception of the Office of the Managing Director, according to the second summary report by the State Office of Elections.
The amendment for an Office of the Managing Director has 34,768 (53.0%) “NO” votes and 25,256 (38.5%) “YES” votes. The other six amendments carry substantial leads for “YES” votes, including the creation of a County Department of Agriculture as well as term limits for the Mayor and Council Members.
