Members of the University of Hawaii Maui College Culinary Arts Program's Umeke Ka'eo Gastronomy Club dish up succulent Thanksgiving food Wednesday afternoon at the Kahului campus. Students and staff prepared 600 meals that included sous vide turkey with gravy and fresh cranberry sauce, taro and Portuguese sausage stuffing, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, maple candied yams with apples and pecans, sauteed fresh vegetables, Greek tomato salad and pumpkin cheesecake. In response to the need created by the economic impacts of COVID-19, the students made twice as many meals as in years past for those in need. The annual event was held in partnership with the Salvation Army.
