Two administrators leaving Maui Health

Two Maui Health administrators will be leaving by the end of this month, the hospital operator announced.

Mike Swanson, assistant administrator of hospital operations, is retiring effective Nov. 27.

After more than 40 years in health care, Swanson will be returning to the Mainland with his wife Kathy to spend time with their children and grandchildren, Maui Health spokeswoman Tracy Dallarda said.

Swanson’s current role has been split into two positions; Patrick Miyahira will serve as the director of construction management and Doug Budd as the interim director of facilities.

Debbie Walsh, chief operating officer, is also leaving Maui Health to be with her family on the Mainland. Her last day will be Nov. 30.

“Debbie’s guidance and experience were vital in helping lead our Emergency Operations Center team in such a critical time for our organization and our community,” Dallarda said. “Debbie was responsible for many Maui Health accomplishments and has had a positive impact on our health system.

“We have worked with several of our leaders to organize an interim reporting structure that will help provide a seamless transition of management until a future leader is hired.”

Maui Health operates Maui Memorial Medical Center, Kula Hospital and Lanai Community Hospital.
