A crew works on lines about 70 feet in the air while a Hawaiian Electric crew and contractors install transmission riser terminations on a pole near the Kaonoulu Substation along Piilani Highway on Thursday morning. A Hawaiian Electric representative said the installed equipment serves as a connection point that allows for the transition from overhead power lines to underground conductors that cross beneath Piilani Highway and tie into transmission lines that provide power to the South Maui area.
