1 min read

An emergency project to remove loose, unstable rocks will temporarily shut down a section of Kahekili Highway, the county Department of Public Works announced.

Work to remove the rocks above Milepost 8.1 is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday to Monday, but the work may be extended, if necessary. The roadway will be impassable during the day while work is ongoing.

Barricades have been set out at the site to alert drivers of the hazard area, the county said.

Project contractor Prometheus Construction will use hand tools such as pry bars to remove unstable rock material along the face of a slope above the roadway. The rocks will be cleared and removed.

Starting at /week.
