WAILUKU -- A man was arrested after he allegedly hit another man on the head with a beer bottle during a confrontation Tuesday night in Wailuku, police said.
Kajer Joseph, 33, of Kahului was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree terroristic threatening and DUI.
According to a declaration filed in court to support the charges, the victim was cleaning his vehicle and storage locker at Central Maui Self Storage at 1710 W. Kaahumanu Ave. at about 6 p.m. Tuesday when Joseph parked next to him. After seeing Joseph talking to himself in his vehicle, the victim tried to talk to Joseph, who then began yelling and swearing, police reported.
Joseph was holding a beer bottle when he got out of his vehicle and urinated on the driver's side rear tire of the victim's vehicle, police said. When the man asked Joseph to stop, he struck the victim on his head with the bottle.
The victim suffered a 2-inch laceration on his forehead.
Joseph ran toward Baldwin High School and was located shortly afterward at the bottom of the hill from the campus wrestling gym, police said.
During his initial appearance Thursday in Wailuku District Court, Joseph was released on supervision. He was ordered not to consume alcohol or illegal drugs and to stay away from the victim, Central Maui Self Storage and Baldwin High School.
