Man arrested after threatening police

WAILUKU — Police arrested a man who allegedly threatened a police officer Wednesday after refusing to leave a resident’s property in Kihei, according to police.

Wayne Ohls, 36, was charged with first-degree terroristic threatening, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and simple trespass. His bail was set at $1,100.

According to a declaration filed in court to support the charges, a woman called police at about 11 a.m. Wednesday to report that a man, later identified as Ohls, was trespassing onto her property in the 1200 block of Uluniu Road. When police arrived, Ohls refused to leave and began yelling profanities, police said.

When he was told he would be arrested if he didn’t leave, Ohls challenged a police officer to a fight, then pulled away as the officer grabbed Ohls’ wrist, according to police.

After being detained, Ohls was being walked to a police car when he told an officer he had “killed cops in the past” and the officer “would not wake up,” according to police.
