MEO volunteers of the year to be announced
Maui Economic Opportunity will announce its individual and benefactor volunteers of the year at its 35th Volunteer Celebration from 11 a.m. to noon on Friday.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the event will be held virtually and is open to the public.
Maui County Mayor Michael Victorino, Maui County Council Chairwoman Alice Lee and other county legislators are expected to offer remarks. Maui Mediation Services Executive Director Bevanne Bowers, immediate past president of the Maui Nonprofit Directors Association, will be the keynote speaker and talk about the value of volunteers to nonprofit organizations.

Imua’s director to address Rotary Club
Imua Family Services Executive Director Dean Wong will be the featured guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Kihei-Wailea’s virtual meeting at noon on Wednesday.
Wong is celebrating his tenth year as the nonprofit’s executive director; he is responsible for the organization’s growth, program development and fiscal management.
He is also the current president of the Hawaii Children’s Action Network’s board of directors and an acting governor with the National Association of Nonprofit Organizations and Executives.

Food Bank, Feed My Sheep get donations
The Hawaii Chapter of the American Resort Development Association, which represents the timeshare industry in Hawaii, recently donated $5,000 to two local nonprofits, Maui Food Bank and Feed My Sheep.
Maui Food Bank received $2,500 in support of its mission to help feed the hungry in Maui County.
Feed My Sheep also received $2,500. The mobile food distribution program provides groceries and extends emotional support to those in need.
The Hawaii Chapter of the American Resort Development Association supports communities in which its resorts are located through organized events, monetary and in-kind donations and volunteerism.

Hui to host online auction fundraiser
The Hui Noeau Visual Arts Center’s annual Art Affair fundraiser will return with an online auction that begins on Feb. 26.
Drawing inspiration from the enduring and iconic American painter Bob Ross, “The Joy of Art Affair: A Happy Little Hui” will provide vital funds to support the center’s visual arts education mission, according to an announcement.
Ongoing online bidding will continue throughout the month of March with a special sale of Gage Schubert’s private collection and an auction of the Hui’s Art Affair artists in the Hui Gallery from Feb. 26 to March 27.

Recycling event set for Feb. 20
The monthly Go Green Recycling event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on Feb. 20 in the parking lot behind the Lahaina District Court, which is located at 1870 Honoapiilani Highway in Lahaina.
The appointment-required bulky item recycling event is hosted by Malama Maui Nui for residents of West Maui so they can responsibly dispose of bulky items at no charge, according to a news release.
