Walmart puts out ‘last call for open call’ for local products

The Maui News

Walmart is putting out a last call for a program that allows Hawaii entrepreneurs and others across the country to apply to have their products sold by the retail giant.

The deadline for Walmart’s eighth annual open call for products made, grown or assembled in America is Friday.

For the second consecutive year, Walmart’s open call will be held virtually, with opportunities to meet one-on-one with Walmart merchants still available in all general categories, including home and sporting goods, toys, stationery, apparel, hardware, automotive and seasonal items, according to a news release.

So far, more than 3,500 businesses have applied for the chance to pitch their products, and more than 10,300 merchant meetings have been requested for the June 30 event.

In addition to one-on-one pitch meetings with Walmart and Sam’s Club merchants, participants will have the opportunity to hear directly from Walmart executives at the hourlong kickoff of the event. Smaller breakout sessions will be available throughout the day, allowing suppliers to learn more on valuable topics and resources available to them.

The open call event helps support the new commitment Walmart made on March 3 to spend an additional $350 billion on items made, grown or assembled in the U.S., the news release said.

Entrepreneurs and small businesses with shelf-ready products can find the application and more information at walmart-jump.com.

Starting at $4.80/week.
