Gary Goodwin and daughter Pluma Goodwin carry OC-1 outrigger canoes to the shoreline at Kalama Park on Saturday morning. They said they were launching for a light training paddle of 3 to 5 miles as Pluma recovers from a shoulder injury. She described herself as a "family paddler," and said she also enjoys paddling with Kimokeo Kapahulehua and the Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe Voyaging Society and Malama Chun's North Shore Renegades. "I paddle the wa'a for the cultural aspect," she said.
