Walmart across Hawaii offers walk-up COVID-19 vaccines

The Maui News

Walmart is now offering walk-up COVID-19 vaccines at 11 pharmacy locations across Hawaii, including Kahului, the company announced Tuesday.

“People in Hawaii have shown great enthusiasm for getting the COVID-19 vaccine, and walk-in service is the next step in providing it when and where it’s convenient for them,” Gov. David Ige said in a news release.

Vaccines are being administered via both walk-up and scheduled appointments. Customers who schedule an appointment can complete pre-vaccination paperwork ahead of time, if interested.

Appointments can be made at walmart.com/COVIDvaccine. Walmart pharmacies are open seven days a week and are administering all three vaccines — Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson.

The company said it strongly encourages but does not mandate that associates get vaccinated. In addition to offering appointments at stores and clubs, it provides two hours paid time to get a vaccination and allows workers to get the vaccine during their shifts if the shot is offered at their location. Both Walmart and Sam’s Club also allow three days of paid leave for any workers experiencing side effects, the news release said.
