Areas of Maui County experienced shaking following a magnitude 5.2 (preliminary 5.0) earthquake reported at 1:44 p.m. on Monday off the Hamakua Coast of Hawaii Island.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center reports that no tsunami is expected, and little or no landsliding is anticipated in exposed areas.
The United States Geological Survey reported that the quake occurred at a depth of 26.9 kilometers off Hawaii Island, but still could be felt in areas across the Valley isle, including Kihei, Makawao, Haiku, Hana, and Kahului.
