A man was arrested Thursday night for allegedly threatening a woman with a machete after he was asked to leave a car wash in Kahului.
Shane Such, 38, of Wailuku was charged with first-degree terroristic threatening.
Police were called after the Wiki Wai Car Wash manager reported getting into an argument with Such about removing his car from the property at 156 E. Wakea Ave. at 7:47 p.m. Thursday. Such said he couldn't leave because his battery was dead, according to a declaration filed in court to support the charge.
The manager went to a nearby property and returned with a woman who also asked Such to leave, police reported. The argument escalated when Such reached into the driver's side of his vehicle and got a machete, which he held over his head while telling the woman he would "chop" her, according to the declaration.
Police recovered the machete from the backseat of the vehicle.
Bail for Such was set at $1,000.
