Maui County's Hana-Lahainaluna-Lanai-Molokai Complex Area has the lowest vaccination rate at 75 percent among state Department of Education complexes and offices across the state, according to data released Wednesday.
Out of 702 salaried employees in the complex, 530 are vaccinated, the DOE reported. In the county's other complex, Baldwin-Kekaulike-Maui, 84 percent, or 1,514 employees out of 1,797, are vaccinated.
Overall, 89 percent of the DOE's salaried employees are fully or partially vaccinated as of Aug. 31. This represents 19,559 out of 21,980 active salaried employees at schools and offices statewide.
The DOE imposed a requirement beginning Aug. 30 that all employees be tested once a week for COVID-19 to comply with Gov. David Ige's Aug. 5 emergency proclamation and to provide a safe school and work environment for students and staff, according to a news release. Employees who provide proof of vaccination are not subject to the weekly testing.
The Farrington-Kaiser-Kalani and Kaimuki-McKinley-Roosevelt complex areas on Oahu have the highest vaccination rates among complexes in the state with 94 percent. The DOE's state offices have a vaccination rate of 95 percent.
