Community comes together to kokua Hana

Pristine and sister Tyra-Li Perry, 17, founded Project Ho'omana, which helps the Hana community in a variety of ways and is currently making daily food deliveries to 10 households from Keanae to Kaupo affected by COVID-19. She said she appreciated the steady stream of cars stopping to drop off items Saturday, with some folks donating twice in one morning. "It's great that everyone is coming out to help those in need," Pristine said. "We have very limited resources in Hana." Items dropped off Saturday included: disinfectants, soaps, laundry detergent, paper goods, masks and hand sanitizer. Project Ho'omana also has an Amazon wish list where people can go online to purchase items to be sent directly to Hana for distribution to families in need. "Whether someone gave one item, a trunk full of items or donated their time to volunteer that day, it all added up to a tremendous donation," organizer Mahina Martin said in a news release Tuesday. She added that Target kicked off the day with a donation of two pallets of supplies and cases of items that included 2,000 disposable masks.
