Kihei's David Singer rides a StreetStrider elliptical bike through the intersection of Kenolio Road and Kaonoulu Street Tuesday morning. Singer said the three-wheeled contraption he bought seven years ago in California provides a good workout and also turns a few heads. "It's twice as much exercise as a bicycle because you are using your arms," he said. "It's as good an exercise as swimming. And you don't have the risk of drowning, just cars. It's got eight gears and you need all of them." He said it has drum brakes on the front wheels and regular bike brake pads on the back. "People stop me and ask about it all the time.
