A Florida woman who was injured when she fell about 15 feet off the trail at Kaihalulu or Red Sand Beach in Hana was medevaced to the hospital in serious condition Thursday, the Maui Fire Department reported.

Hana firefighters, responding to the 11:36 a.m. call, hiked the trail to locate the 69-year-old woman. Rescue firefighters aboard the Fire Department’s Air One helicopter airlifted the victim to Hana Ballpark, where medics were waiting.

The woman suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was transported by Maui Medevac to Maui Memorial Medical Center, according to the Fire Department.
