Crews put out fire in fishing boat

Maui Fire Department crews put out a fire in a fishing boat in Lahaina on Tuesday afternoon.

At 12:01 p.m., Lahaina engine and ladder crews were called to Lahaina Harbor for reports of a fire in the engine compartment of a 38-foot fishing boat. Fire Department personnel used a fire extinguisher to put it out completely by 12:15 p.m.

The vessel remained afloat, and no injuries were reported, the Fire Department said. Damages were still being assessed as of Tuesday evening.
