Free COVID test kits distributed

FIRST PHOTO: A long line of vehicles stretches down the side of Kanaloa Avenue almost all the way to Kahului Harbor before turning into the neighborhood on Liholiho Street as people wait to receive a free COVID-19 rapid test kit from Maui County Wednesday afternoon. A person who joined the end of the line on Liholiho at 3:15 p.m. said she received her kit at 5:30 p.m. for a wait of two hours and 15 minutes.

SECOND PHOTO: Cars lined up at the entrance to War Memorial Complex are at the front of a line that stretches down Kanaloa Avenue and onto Liholiho Street. The county was giving out a few thousand rapid self-tests amid a spike in COVID-19 cases. State and county officials are encouraging people to get tested if they have flu-like symptoms, have been in contact with an infected person or have traveled off island recently.
