Woman arrested in Lahaina stabbing
WAILUKU — A woman was arrested for allegedly stabbing another woman who was involved with the suspect’s ex-boyfriend.
Tabitha Jones, 34, of Napili was charged with first-degree assault in connection with the stabbing Friday.
During her initial appearance Tuesday in Lahaina District Court, convening in Wailuku, Deputy Prosecutor Byron Fujieda asked for bail to remain at $75,000 for Jones.
While she has no criminal history in Maui County, “given the seriousness of the charge and the danger to the community, it’s a fair and appropriate bail amount,” Fujieda said.
He said Jones’ boyfriend broke up with her and told her he would be dating the victim. When the victim went to pick up the boyfriend at Blackie’s in Lahaina, Jones confronted the other woman with a knife, Fujieda said. He said an altercation followed and the victim was slashed in her leg.
Judge Blaine Kobayashi set bail at $75,000. Jones was ordered to have no contact with the victim and stay at least 100 yards away from her.
