In-person payment windows for county real property tax, transient accommodations tax and solid waste bills are temporarily closed because of a surge of COVID-19 cases.
At the county Real Property Assessment Division windows at the Service Center in Kahului and Molokai satellite office, in-person service will be offered only by appointment. Appointments can be made by calling (808) 270-7297.
Real property tax payments can be made online at www. mauicounty.gov/rptpayments or by calling (844) 471-7326. Credit card, debit card and electronic check payments are accepted. Fees will apply.
Taxpayers can enroll in an automatic payment option at www.mauicounty.gov/576 or by calling (808) 270-7697 and asking for a form to be mailed.
Payments also can be mailed with the original payment coupon to County of Maui, Real Property Tax Collections, P.O. Box 29760, Honolulu 96820-2160. Payments without the original payment coupon can be mailed to County of Maui, Treasury Division, 110 Alaihi St., Suite 108, Kahului 96732.
Payments by check can be deposited in designated drop boxes at the front entrance of the county Service Center at 110 Alaihi St. and at the front entrance of Kalana O Maui, 200 S. High St. in Wailuku.

Transient accommodations tax payments can be mailed to County of Maui, Maui County TAT Office, 110 Alaihi St., Suite 107, Kahului 96732, or left in a designated drop box at the location.
The payment voucher form should be included with checks made payable to "Director of Finance." Information written on checks should include "MCTAT," the filing period, state TAT ID number and a daytime phone number.
Online payments can be made at www.mauicounty .gov/tat/payment. No fees will be assessed, but payments require bank verification, which can take up to four days. Taxpayers with liability exceeding $100,000 a year are required to pay taxes by electronic funds transfer.

For real property and transient accommodations taxes, transactions that are required to be done in person will be handled by appointment only.
While the bill payment window on the second floor of One Main Plaza is closed, solid waste bills can be paid by depositing the payment, remittance slip and envelope included with the invoice in a secure drop box outside the door at 2200 Main St., Suite 200, Wailuku 96793. Payments also can be mailed there.
Instructions for online payments are available at mauicounty.gov/1017/Solid-Waste-Refuse-Services-and-Informat. The credit card vendor's fee will be waived while the payment window is closed.
No length was given for the closures, which are being done "out of an abundance of caution to limit community spread of COVID-19 and the highly contagious omicron variant," according to a county news release.
