DMVL requires appointments at some locations, suspends road tests until further notice

The Maui News

The Maui County Division of Motor Vehicles and Licensing will offer in-person services by appointment only at its Kahului, Kihei and Lahaina locations starting Monday through Feb. 28.

Driver’s license road tests also will be suspended beginning Monday until further notice, the county said, adding that it was taking the steps to protect employees and the public during the current surge of COVID-19.

No walk-in or standby customers will be serviced at these DMVL locations. Customers should arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before and no later than 10 minutes after scheduled appointment time.

Appointments can be made at mauicounty.gov/1328/Motor-Vehicle-Licensing and are reserved for individuals completing a single transaction for themselves.

Dealerships, fee-for-service agencies, rental car representative or tow companies will be required to drop off title and registration documents to the Maui County Service Center in Kahului.

Customers needing vehicle registration renewals are encouraged to use the DMVL kiosks located at Safeway stores in Wailuku, Kahului, Lahaina and Kihei or Foodland in Pukalani; or online at mvr.ehawaii.gov/renewals/lookup.html?county=maui.

Convenience fees at the kiosks and online are being waived from Monday through Feb. 28.

Information about kiosk locations is available at hawaiidmvnowkiosk.com/.
