Visitors get a close-up look as a set of waves rolls into Hookipa Thursday morning. Maui and Molokai were under high surf advisories for several days as a pair of west-northwest swells passed through the islands. Over the weekend, waves of 15 to 20 feet were expected along north-facing shores of Maui and Molokai, with surf of 10 to 15 feet along west-facing shores of Molokai, according to the National Weather Service.
