The mandatory self-quarantine period for travelers arriving in Hawaii from other parts of the U.S. has been reduced from 10 days to five days effective Monday, the Hawaii Tourism Authority announced.
The quarantine applies to travelers who are not fully vaccinated or do not have a negative COVID-19 pre-travel test result.
The changes come on the heels of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance reducing the number of days that people need to quarantine if they are exposed to someone with the virus. The state Department of Health also lowered quarantine requirements in the wake of the CDC's guidance.
Starting today, travelers will not be required to complete the Safe Travels health questionnaire prior to departure to receive a QR code.
There are no additional state requirements for passengers flying directly into Hawaii from an international destination due to the U.S. federal requirements currently in place.
