The Steel Pulse concert scheduled for this Saturday at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center has been postponed until April 1 due to a death in the family of one of the band members, the MACC said Tuesday.
Tickets purchased for the original date will be valid for the rescheduled concert. Those unable to make it to the April concert may receive a refund by contacting the MACC Box Office at boxoffice@mauiarts .org or by calling (808) 242-SHOW (7469) between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Due to COVID-19 mitigation guidelines, the box office is closed to walk-up transactions until further notice.
Steel Pulse tickets are general admission and are $39.50 in advance and $49.50 on the day of the show, plus applicable fees. Purchases can be made online only at mauiarts.org.
The change impacts all three of the band's planned Hawaii concert dates, the MACC said.
On Tuesday, the MACC also announced that the upcoming Allman Betts Band concert will now be the Maui debut of the Devon Allman Project in the Castle Theater at 7:30 p.m. on April 2. Tickets already purchased for the Allman Betts Band will be honored, and as with the original concert, there will be a dance floor for all orchestra-level ticketed patrons.
The Devon Allman Project is a six-piece world-class band that has previously toured almost 20 countries, according to a MACC news release. The band is led by Blues Music Award-winning Devon Allman and features two Allman Betts Band drummers, bass, Hammond B3 organ and piano as well as another guitarist. They will play songs of The Allman Brothers and Gregg Allman in their set, as well as Devon Allman's fan-favorite originals and surprise covers.
Donavon Frankenreiter will be the concert's special guest. Born in South California, Frankenreiter became a professional surfer at age 16. Now a musician, he's known for his unique blend of laidback grooves, philosophical lyrics and a soulful delivery, the news release said.
Tickets are $15, $35, $50, $65 and $85 plus applicable fees. MACC members receive a 10 percent discount except for the $15 tickets.
All concert attendees must be fully vaccinated -- including a booster for those eligible, per Maui County rules that took effect Monday -- and show proof with a photo ID. They must wear a mask at all times while in the venue.
