State launches new COVID-19 hotline

The state Department of Health has launched a new hotline for people with questions about COVID-19, including what to do if they test positive, are exposed to a positive case or need to get a booster shot.

“The hotline provides information about isolation, quarantine, booster shots and more,” State Epidemiologist Dr. Sarah Kemble said in a news release Tuesday. “It is especially useful for people who have tested positive or have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19. It is also useful for businesses where there is more than one COVID case.”

Calls to the hotline are answered by an automated information system, or a bot, that answers common questions. Callers who need additional information can ask to be transferred to hotline representatives in specific counties who will answer more detailed questions.

To reach the hotline, call (808) 586-8332. The department encourages people to check hawaiicovid19.com to try and find the answer to their question before calling. Vaccination and testing options are also available on the website. For information specific to Maui County, visit mauinui strong.info.
