State lawmakers will hold a briefing with the four island counties and the state Department of Health this afternoon to discuss the state's response to COVID-19 moving forward.
The Senate Health Committee and the House Committee on Pandemic and Disaster Preparedness will hold the joint information briefing at 1 p.m. today in Conference Room 225 of the State Capitol and via videoconference. The briefing was announced Tuesday after Gov. David Ige said the state would drop its indoor mask mandate on March 25.
Each county will provide an update on COVID-19. The Health Department will discuss current numbers and trends; national changes; COVID-19 transitions, including federal funding, testing and vaccinations; and future response, include the potential threat for other variants and triggers to respond to potential surges.
No public testimony will be accepted.
