Firefighters quickly contained a half-acre brush fire Wednesday afternoon below the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Maui Lani Parkway in Kahului. Wailuku and Kahului engine companies, a Kahului tanker and the Fire Department's Air One helicopter responded to the 3:05 p.m. call, finding the active fire amid winds of 10 to 15 mph, the Fire Department reported. The cause was unknown. Fire crews remained on scene to mop up the fire Wednesday afternoon.
