Timothy Turenne and Joanna Maney are the winners of the state's Game Bird Stamp Art Contest, the state Department of Land and Natural Resources' Division of Forestry and Wildlife announced Wednesday.

Turenne was the winner of the game bird stamp that depicted the chukar partridge, a popular game bird brought to Hawaii in 1923. Turenne has won more than 20 art stamp contests since becoming a full-time wildlife artist in 2006, according to a news release.

Maney was the winner of the conservation stamp depicting the 'i'iwi, a honeycreeper that is federally listed as threatened statewide. She has participated in volunteer and bird rehab programs since her early teens and became enamored with native species in Hawaii after first seeing an 'i'iwi in 2017. She currently lives in Honolulu with her husband and two sons.

The two new stamps will be available for the new 2022-23 hunting season. The conservation stamp is required on the Hawaii state hunting license, and the game bird hunting stamp is required for those intending to hunt game birds.

The stamps will be available on July 1 to collectors by calling (808) 587-0166 or visiting the DOFAW office at 1151 Punchbowl St., Room 325, in Honolulu.
