Waipuna Chapel to hold Easter services

Waipuna Chapel will host three Easter morning services at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. April 17 at 17 Omaopio Road in Kula.

Children's programming will be available at all services. Special music by the choir and a closing hula will be part of the service.

There will also be one service at 9 a.m. at Waipuna's Makawao campus at the Oskie Rice Arena.

Makawao Union to begin Holy Week

Holy Week at Makawao Union Church will begin with Palm Sunday worship on Sunday and concludes with Easter services on April 17.

Both services will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the ringing of the historic church bell and will include the familiar scripture readings and the singing of hymns of the season, led by Music Director John Rowehl and the chancel choir.

Elder Martha-Lee Bohn will lead Palm Sunday worship and Pastor Emeritus B. David Williams will officiate at the Easter Sunday service.

Child care will be provided.

A traditional Easter egg hunt will also be held after the Easter service. Friends and family are welcome.

Trinity Episcopal sets Holy Week services

The Rev. Heather Mueller opens Holy Week with a Palm Sunday service at 9 a.m. Sunday at Trinity by the Sea Episcopal Church's outdoor sanctuary at 100 Kulanihakoi St. in Kihei.

For Maundy Thursday there will be a joint service at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Moki Hino at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church at 2140 Main St. in Wailuku.

Mueller will lead Stations of the Cross at noon on Good Friday outside of Trinity's outdoor sanctuary.

An Easter Vigil will be held at 7 p.m. April 16 in a joint service with Hino at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church.

Mueller and the Rev. John Tomoso will be the celebrants at the Easter Sunday service at 9 a.m. April 17 in Trinity's outdoor sanctuary.

A keiki Easter egg hunt will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Trinity's grounds following the worship service.

Holy Week to start at Good Shepherd

Holy Week services begin 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Palm Sunday at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church on the corner of Church and Main streets in Wailuku.

The 9 a.m. service will begin in the church office courtyard, followed by a processional into the church.

The church will also have a service with music at 7 p.m. Maundy Thursday and a service at 7 p.m. on Good Friday. Communion will be offered from the Reserved Sacrament.

On the evening of April 16, the Great Vigil of Easter begins at 7 p.m. This is the first Eucharist of Easter. Participants should bring bells to ring during the service hymns.

On Easter Sunday morning, April 17, there will a sunrise service at 6 a.m. to celebrate Christ's resurrection. Another will be held at 9 a.m. to celebrate the Holy Baptism, with music led by Ferdinand Cajigal.

The church encourages people to come early to the services to be seated in the church. All children attending either service may join in the Easter egg hunt on the church grounds at the conclusion of the 9 a.m. service.
