Man accused of brandishing knife
WAILUKU — A Wailuku man was arrested for allegedly threatening another man with a knife Monday at Queen Ka’ahumanu Center.
Blaine McCammack, 29, was charged with first-degree terroristic threatening and possession of a butterfly knife in the commission of a crime.
During McCammack’s initial appearance Tuesday in Wailuku District Court, Deputy Public Defender Andres Tobar asked for McCammack to be released on supervision. He works and has a place to live, Tobar said.
He said that based on speaking with McCammack, what happened seemed to be a misunderstanding.
In asking for bail to remain at $2,000, Deputy Prosecutor Jeffery Temas said McCammack allegedly brandished a butterfly knife. “It was unprovoked, based on irrational thought,” Temas said.
Judge Chris Dunn kept bail at $2,000, “in light of the seriousness of the behavior alleged.” He noted that McCammack has 11 prior convictions.
