Maui Health to offer second booster doses

Maui Health began offering second booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine at its clinic on Friday.

Earlier this week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention approved second boosters of Pfizer or Moderna’s mRNA vaccines for people who are over the age of 50, who are 12 or older and have a compromised immune system or who received primary and booster doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. They must have received their last booster dose at least four months ago.

Maui Health said Friday that its vaccine clinic in the main lobby of Maui Memorial Medical Center continues to provide Pfizer vaccines to all eligible residents from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Fridays only. No appointment is needed, and walk-ins are welcome during clinic hours.

First and second doses as well as additional booster shots are available, with pediatric doses also open to those ages 5 to 11. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
