Police: Loaded guns, drugs found in search of truck

Molokai patrol officers arrested a 47-year-old Hoolehua man after finding loaded guns, ammunition and drugs in a search of a pickup truck last week, police said.

Police reported starting a narcotics investigation after a traffic stop of the truck that the man was driving at 9:16 p.m. April 8 on Lihi Pali Avenue in Hoolehua. When the man got out of the 1994 Toyota pickup, officers were informed that a loaded rifle was in the vehicle, police said.

The truck was towed while police applied for a search warrant.

The warrant was executed April 12, and police reported recovering a loaded Marlin 25MN .22-caliber rifle, a loaded Smith & Wesson SW9VE 9 mm handgun, a loaded Remington 700 7 mm rifle, multiple calibers of ammunition, firearm accessories, 1.12 grams of marijuana concentrate, 2.1 grams of marijuana, crystal methamphetamine residue and drug paraphernalia.

Police said the man was located at his residence and arrested April 12.

He was later released pending investigation of third-degree promotion of a detrimental drug, third-degree promotion of a harmful drug, use of a firearm in a felony drug offense, keeping a pistol or revolver in an improper place, three counts of keeping a loaded firearm in an improper place, two counts of keeping ammunition in an improper place, three counts of having a loaded firearm on a public highway, possessing drug paraphernalia and other firearm offenses.
