Children race around the May pole at the 24th annual Maui Earth Day Festival on May 1. Held at the Maui Tropical Plantation, the event drew about 3,000 participants, its largest turnout ever, according to festival organizer Bruce Douglas. “This grassroots community event brings together many of Maui’s environmental and social awareness organizations to share their information with the public in a festival setting that fosters community building and community connections,” Douglas said.

This year’s festival featured musical performances across the festival grounds, a sound healing tent, a yoga pavilion and an environmental and social awareness tent, along with 96 eco-vendor and crafter tents and 21 food vendors. It also drew political candidates and environmental speakers.
