Temple to host annual bazaar, garage sale

The Makawao Buddhist Temple will host its annual garage sale from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and 7 a.m. to noon on Sunday.

The temple’s annual bazaar will also be held from 7 a.m. to noon on Sunday.

Items for sale include plants, preserves, baked goods, pickled vegetables, chow fun, clothing, furniture, appliances, cookware and collectibles.

Masks will be required indoors and crowd control will be observed.

The Makawao Hongwanji Buddhist Temple is located at 1074 Makawao Ave. in Makawao. For more information, call (808) 572-7229.


Kahului Union to hold rummage sale

Kahului Union Church Rummage Sale is set for 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at 101 W. Kamehameha Ave.

Items for sale include clothing, furniture, linen, housewares, kitchen wares, books, CDs, DVDs, toys, holiday items, crafts, jewelry and art.

Sales will be cash only and carryout (no holding of items).

COVID guidelines will be observed. Masks are required, and there will be limited capacity inside and social distancing.

Service trip set for Haleakala nursery

The Friends of Haleakala National Park will hold its monthly service trip at the park’s plant nursery in the Summit District from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday.

Participants will help the National Park Service with various jobs, such as transplanting, weeding, cleaning and preparing seeds for storage or planting. Most of the work is done under cover of the greenhouse, and volunteers can drive up to the location of the work near the park entrance station.

Volunteers should bring water and snacks. A mask and gloves are also optional. The National Park Service will provide tools. Sturdy shoes, layered clothing and a hat and sunscreen in case of outplanting work are also recommended.
