Water main break floods Wailuku homes

Three homes in Wailuku were flooded Friday morning due to a water main break in the 1500 Mill St. block area, police officials said.

No injuries were reported and the estimated damages to the residences are unknown, police said. The Red Cross was requested to assist some of the residents who were displaced due to the flooding.

Because of the water main break, Mill Street was closed between Imi Kala and Lower Main streets around 4:20 a.m. By about 4:30 a.m., the road closure shifted to the area of Mill Street between Imi Kala and Ainaola streets. As crews made repairs, the closure moved to between Ainaola and Halewili streets around 6:57 a.m.

All roads were reopened by about 2 p.m., police said.

The Maui Fire Department and the county Department of Water Supply all responded, according to police.
