Hoolehua system to undergo repairs

Customers on the state Department of Hawaiian Home Lands’ Hoolehua Water System will have water temporarily shut off from 10 p.m. July 19 through 6 a.m. July 20, the DHHL announced on Wednesday.

DHHL’s contractor Goodfellow Brothers will conduct repair work on the main water storage tanks and distribution lines beginning July 18.

Water system customers in Hoolehua and Kalamaula are advised to conserve water ahead of and during scheduled service interruption, DHHL said in a news release.

Upon reactivation, some customers may experience low water pressure until the system is fully pressurized.

The temporary water service interruption is part of DHHL’s $37 million capital improvement project aimed at upgrading Molokai’s 80-year-old Hoolehua Water System.
