Pukalani crash forces traffic to detour

FIRST PHOTO: A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Haleakala Highway and Old Haleakala Highway in Pukalani forces traffic to detour Tuesday evening. The Chrysler 200 was headed downhill on Old Haleakala Highway at a high rate of speed when it ran the intersection's stop sign at the intersection and broadsided the pickup truck. Bystanders said the occupant of the car allegedly fled on foot after the accident. The Maui Police Department could not be reached for comment on the accident Wednesday.
