Maui jail reports 56 active COVID cases

Another 31 Maui Community Correctional Center inmates tested positive for COVID-19 during the week that ended Tuesday, bringing the total to 56 active cases at the Wailuku jail, the Department of Public Safety reported.

The total was the highest reported for the week at prison facilities in the state, followed by 23 cases at Oahu Community Correctional Center and 21 at Halawa Correctional Facility, also on Oahu.

All inmates with active cases were in medical isolation at the Wailuku jail, the department reported.
