All public libraries were closed on Monday "out of an abundance of caution due to an unspecified threat," the Hawaii State Public Library System said in a news release.

The state said it was working with local law enforcement to determine when it would be safe to reopen.

Library officials could not be immediately reached for comment on Monday evening, but the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported that the Office of the State Librarian had confirmed that all libraries are expected to reopen today.

Starting at /week.
